Lost

Today I heard from a mother whose 30-year old daughter's life was taken by anorexia in March. The mother and I had had a conversation a year ago and she wrote to let me know.

I am so sorry.

This illness kills. This is a cruel, cruel disease and as this mother called it: "evil."

We have to try harder. Meanwhile, we need to be there for the families who suffer this tragic loss.

  3. My heart goes out to this Mom - who has lost her daughter to an incredibly cruel disease. Please know that we all have you, your daughter and family in our prayers.

I am Mom who has spent the past decade watching my young adult daughter suffer and trying to save her life from this cruel disease. I know how much fear and despair you have felt and are feeling now.

My heart is full of tears for you.

  6. As a 30-year old in remission from anorexia, this hits so close to home.

My thoughts are with her family. It is such a cruel disease for EVERY ONE involved.

I will light a candle in honour of this young woman tonight. And I will continue to fight...

  9. There are no words that will be enough to tell this family how deeply this is felt. I am so terribly sorry to read this, I will hug my daughter a little closer when I get home and your loss will spur me on to make a difference to how this illness is treated. Mym

  10. I am so, so, so sorry. I hope that this Mom can hear how sad we are for her - 30 years. That is a long time to suffer with this disease. For the person who said that she, herself, is 30 and working on staying healthy, thank you for posting.

Sending a hug sounds so empty - saying that we understand what you have done to help your daughter might help - we KNOW that you and your family are suffering. So so sorry.

  11. My daughter is 15. She stopped eating when I developed cancer. We did Maudsley several times at home. She is now in her third treatment center. She feels invincible - or so her ED tells her. I am so so sorry and hope that if my daughter reads of your so very tragic loss, she may understand that the disease causes death and pain - or she may realize that it is her ED that is controlling her. Please take comfort in that your sharing may help others. So so sorry. A Mom

  12. very sorry to hear of her loss. Its sad that in some cases no amount of love and support can save these people, and in other cases people with no support keep reaching out and reaching out,and you guys will try to help, and that person will end up pulling away and running towards their own end....what can you do when someone is too sick to realize how desperate their situation is? I feel so much pain for the families that do care about their sick children and other family members. For those families that were loving supportive and caring, thank you for being so strong and For those who lost a loved one, I am so sorry that they lost this evil battle. I hope someday we will find a way to stop the early spread of this disorder.
