Priceless:
A Love-Hate Relationship?: "Feel-Good" Oxytocin May Have a Dark Side

  1. I'm not really sure what to make of this - principally because oxytocin wouldn't normally be released by the brain in the circumstances surrounding this experiment. It's rather a false scenario with rather poor ecological validity; unless there was a lot more to the study than described in this magazine article. It would be more realistic to stimulate oxytocin release naturally, then to see what how a person responds to real people. Oxytocin also had metabolic effects. It's not just a 'love hormone'...

  2. I meant 'has' not 'had' in the last sentence "Oxytocin also has metabolic effects".
