I breastfed both my kids. And yes, one was adopted! In the latter case, although I came with the proper equipment, I had to also use formula in a contraption that made a mockery of the low-tech art of breastfeeding. I was certainly the only mom at La Leche meetings carrying Similac, and also the only one having her chest stared at!

I signed the petition, Laura. I was a La Leche League meeting leader for 10 years and know full well the health advantages of breastfeeding for both mother and child. It is nice to hear that you nursed your adopted child. I have know moms who did likewise and were glad that they did.
ReplyDeleteYea for the SNS! My youngest was in the NICU for a month and I pumped and nursed with a SNS system until he was strong enough! I miss those nursing days...
