Sweets for geeks

Only the geekiest among us will love this: The Cellular and Molecular Substrates of Anorexia Nervosa, Part 1 - as it isn't written for the average reader and took me two straight readings (hence my delay in posting it as I lately don't get four straight minutes to concentrate) to really absorb.

But I loved it. We need more of this thoughtful and intelligent higher level explanation of the disparate threads of knowledge out there. We need to get out of the ED world and get others to take up the ED information.

I can't wait for Part 2.

  1. I see my ED daughter all over this: the people who had recovered from AN " appeared to be looking for “rules” in the tasks where there were none and were overly concerned—even obsessively concerned—with making errors" and people with AN have "high anticipatory behavior and obsessive concern with future events." Even when she was quite young, years before AN manifested at age 11, she worried about things like whether or not we were parking in a legal spot, or whether we were allowed to walk on a college campus. Our assurances that our behavior was appropriate did nothing to reassure her.

I, too, look forward to the next part of this article.

  2. Interesting indeed. Can't wait for the next installment. (Any introductory course in Psychology will give the basics for geekie brain terminology).
    But how it all works?
    Thanks for sharing.
